My air compressor has a gage on it that goes up to 130psi.? | |
Is that enough psi to shoot nails for a 3.5 inch framing nailer?
Thanks

1The guage may read 130 PSI but I bet theres a pop of valve on the tank or compressor somewhere rated to release air at 115 or 120. Most are. Its a safety thing.
Yes 110 to 130 PSI will be plenty of air pressure to shoot those big nails. But the question is how fast can your air compressor recover? Pressure is only half the equation. The other half is cubic feet per minute. CFM.
I can shoot 4 inch nails all day with my 10 hp compressor and 80 gallon tank. But if your using a small compresser with a small tank you will lose pressure after 1 or 2 shots and have to wait for the pressure in the tank to recover. Your compressor has a limit to how many CFM it can put out.
When doing construction work I use my 5.5 hp portable compressor with a 25 gallon tank. And I can over shoot my nail gun and drop the PSI to almost nothing...
